No, because you do not stay in town. Casa Del Soul is a private home in Cahuita with air-conditioned bedrooms, a full kitchen, WiFi, a private pool and an open-air yoga deck. Puerto Viejo is a short drive for an evening out, and its low-key reputation is exactly why the jungle around the house is quiet enough for a retreat.

Our five-day retreat is $2,250, $2,750 or $3,500 per guest depending on package. Every level includes four nights' accommodation, one chef-prepared meal daily, daily yoga, meditation and breathwork, use of a red light therapy mask and blanket, the private pool and three excursions. Flights, insurance and airport transfers are extra.

Transfers from San José, additional meals, alcohol, extra spa sessions and anything you buy on excursions are not. Each package is spelled out on this page so there are no surprises on arrival.

Light clothes, swimwear, yoga wear, closed walking shoes for the national park, a light rain jacket, reef-safe sunscreen and insect repellent. A red light therapy mask and blanket are provided for every guest. Leave the hair dryer; the humidity wins.

Most protocols use 10 to 20 minutes per session, several times a week. Guests typically use the mask and blanket for 15 to 20 minutes after dinner. If you are pregnant, photosensitive or on medication that affects light sensitivity, ask your doctor first.

Yes. The house sits in the jungle outside Cahuita, the schedule ends at dinner, and the evenings are yours. WiFi exists if you need it; most guests forget about it by day two.
