GROUP GETAWAYS

Private Group Getaway on Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast

A private group getaway on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast for friends, families and small teams: Casa Del Soul is a private home in Cahuita, about 20 minutes from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, with a pool, an open-air yoga deck, three air-conditioned bedrooms and a national park and coral reef nearby. It sleeps up to seven. Group Getaways start at $5,500, and everything beyond the house, from excursions to catering, is quoted separately in a written proposal so your group pays for what it actually wants.

What a group getaway at Casa Del Soul includes

Exclusive use of the house for your dates: three bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a double bed and air conditioning, two bathrooms, a private pool, an open-air yoga deck, a full kitchen, WiFi, a dedicated workspace and open-air living and dining spaces. A house manager is available for basic needs. Every guest has the use of a red light therapy mask and blanket.

The $5,500 starting price is preliminary and not all-inclusive. Catering, décor, photography, music, transportation, excursions, coordination, taxes and vendor services are priced separately unless your confirmed proposal includes them. If you want chef-prepared meals, say so and they will be quoted; if you would rather cook, the kitchen is yours. See the gallery.

Who books a small group trip to Costa Rica here

Friends who have done the city break and want a few days outdoors with a pool at the end of them. Families with adult children who need two bathrooms and space to spread out. A girls' trip that wants Puerto Viejo for one night and the quiet of Cahuita for the rest. A small team that would rather plan the year on a deck than in a conference room; see our page on corporate retreats for small teams.

The house sleeps up to seven overnight guests. If you want others to join for a dinner, tell us at the start: attendance beyond the overnight group is confirmed only after consultation and a property review, and a separate refundable security deposit may be required.

Your days, your way: three sample plans

The nature days. A guided hike in Cahuita National Park, guided rainforest walks, wildlife encounters and a snorkelling trip on the reef.

The active days. An ATV tour, whitewater rafting, ziplining, a guided waterfall hike and a surf session; see adventure tours from Cahuita.

The slow days. Yoga on the deck, massage, a chocolate tour, horseback riding along the coast, and the pool. Most groups mix all three. Each excursion is optional and quoted per person in your proposal, and yoga, breathwork and sound healing sessions can be arranged for groups who want them.

How booking works

Choose the Group Getaway on the celebrations page. Send your dates and guest details. Tell us which optional experiences interest you and request availability. We reply as soon as we can with a confirmed written proposal listing the house, your chosen experiences and any separately priced services. After you approve it, a 50% deposit reserves your dates.

Transportation is not included unless the proposal says so, but ground transport and airport pickup can be coordinated. Most groups fly into San José and travel about 4.5 to 5 hours by road, or take a domestic flight to Limón and continue by car.

A hosted house in Cahuita, not a villa listing

Listings for a private villa near Puerto Viejo will give you a house. Casa Del Soul is a home run for retreats and small groups: the yoga deck, pool and red light therapy are already in place, a house manager is available for basic needs, and the location is Cahuita, the quieter village north of Puerto Viejo, beside a protected coastline that the national tourism board describes for its reef, wildlife and Afro-Caribbean culture.

The starting price is on this page, and so are the booking steps and the deposit rule. The proposal tells you precisely what your group is getting.

FAQ

Group getaway questions, answered

  • How many days do you need in Cahuita?

Three days covers the national park, the reef and one cultural tour. More time adds a rest day, horseback riding or a chocolate tour without rushing. Our scheduled retreats run five days and four nights, which many groups find is where people stop checking the time. Tell us how long you have.

  • Do I need a car in Cahuita?

Usually not. Ground transport, airport pickup and transport for excursions can be coordinated and are confirmed in your proposal, though transportation is not included unless the proposal says so. Renting is worthwhile only if your group wants to explore independently. The drive from San José takes about 4.5 to 5 hours.

  • Can we cook for ourselves?

Yes. The house has a full kitchen and open-air dining space, and some groups prefer to shop locally and cook together. If you would rather have chef-prepared meals for some or all days, tell us and catering will be quoted separately in your proposal. Food on this coast is very fresh and local.

  • Is the house suitable for older guests or children?

The bedrooms have air conditioning, the living spaces are open air, and there is a private pool. Tell us ages and any mobility needs when you enquire and we will describe the layout honestly so you can decide whether it suits your group.

  • Is the $5,500 group getaway price all-inclusive?

No. It is a preliminary starting price for the house. Catering, décor, photography, music, transportation, excursions, coordination, taxes and vendor services are priced separately unless your confirmed written proposal includes them. The proposal lists each item; after approval, a 50% deposit reserves your dates.
