INTIMATE WEDDINGS

Small Wedding Venue in Cahuita, Costa Rica

Casa Del Soul is a small wedding venue in Cahuita, on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, about 20 minutes from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. It is one private home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a private pool and an open-air deck, for couples who want a ceremony with the people closest to them rather than a resort ballroom. Intimate weddings start at $9,500 with up to seven overnight guests, and everything beyond the house is priced separately in a written proposal before you commit to anything.

What an intimate wedding at Casa Del Soul looks like

The whole house is yours. Three bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a double bed and air conditioning, sleep up to seven. The living, dining and kitchen spaces are open air, so dinner happens with the forest around you. A ceremony can take place on the open-air deck or beside the private pool, and the indoor and outdoor gathering spaces give the group somewhere to be together before and after.

A house manager is available for basic needs, and every guest has the use of a red light therapy mask and blanket. There is WiFi, a full kitchen and a dedicated workspace for anyone who has to check in with work. See the house in the gallery before you enquire.

Who this Caribbean coast wedding venue is for

Couples eloping with a few witnesses. Couples whose second wedding is for the handful of people who were there for the hard years. Couples who already had the big day at home and want a small symbolic ceremony somewhere that feels like theirs. Couples pairing the wedding with a honeymoon, since our couples retreats run in the same house.

It is not a venue for a large reception. The house sleeps up to seven overnight guests. Event attendance beyond the overnight group is not promised; it is confirmed only after a consultation and a review of the property, and a separate refundable security deposit may be required. We would rather say at the start that a number does not fit.

Legal or symbolic: getting married in Costa Rica

Costa Rica generally recognises civil marriages performed by a Costa Rican notary (a lawyer) and Catholic church marriages, and foreign visitors can typically marry here with valid passports. The marriage is registered with the civil registry under the Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones. Requirements, documents and witness rules can change, so confirm the current steps with a notary and check how your home country recognises a foreign marriage.

If your paperwork is done at home, a symbolic ceremony on the deck has no legal steps at all. Either way, the legal arrangements are yours to make with the notary or officiant you choose; we host the day and the days around it.

What a small wedding in Costa Rica costs

Intimate weddings at Casa Del Soul start at $9,500. That figure is a preliminary starting point, not an all-inclusive package. Catering, décor, photography, music, transportation, excursions, coordination, taxes and vendor services are priced separately unless your confirmed proposal includes them. The proposal lists each item so you can see exactly what you are paying for and remove what you do not want.

Booking follows the same steps as every celebration on our celebrations page: choose the Intimate Wedding, send dates and guest details, pick optional experiences, request availability, receive a confirmed written proposal, and after approval pay a 50% deposit to reserve the dates. Nothing is booked or paid before that step. We reply by WhatsApp or the contact form as soon as we can.

Why Cahuita instead of a resort

No other wedding shares the property with yours. No bar crowd walks through the photographs. Cahuita National Park, with its coastal trail and coral reef, is nearby for the day after, and Puerto Viejo is about 20 minutes down the coast for a night out.

Most guests fly into San José and travel about 4.5 to 5 hours by road, or take a domestic flight to Limón; our getting here page explains the options. Between the ceremony and departure, the experiences available in the area range from guided waterfall hikes to snorkelling and chocolate tours.

FAQ

Wedding questions, answered

  • Can I elope in Costa Rica?

Yes. Costa Rica generally allows foreign visitors to marry through a Costa Rican notary or the Catholic church, with the marriage registered in the national civil registry. Confirm current documents, witness requirements and timelines with a notary before you travel. Casa Del Soul hosts the ceremony and the stay; the legal arrangements are between you and the notary you choose.

  • What are the requirements for getting married in Costa Rica?

Typically valid passports, witnesses, and a notary or priest to perform and register the marriage; divorced or widowed partners usually need the relevant certificates. Rules can change and vary by nationality, so verify everything with a Costa Rican notary and check how your home country recognises a foreign marriage. We do not provide witnesses or legal services.

  • How many guests can a wedding at Casa Del Soul have?

The house sleeps up to seven overnight guests across three bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a double bed. Event attendance beyond the overnight group is not promised; it is confirmed only after a consultation and a review of the property, and a separate refundable security deposit may be required. Tell us your numbers and we will answer honestly.

  • Is the $9,500 wedding price all-inclusive?

No. It is a preliminary starting price. Catering, décor, photography, music, transportation, excursions, coordination, taxes and vendor services are priced separately unless your confirmed written proposal includes them. The proposal lists every item, and after you approve it a 50% deposit reserves your dates. Nothing is booked or paid before that step.
